Ed25519

Ed25519 is a high-speed, high-security public-key signature system based on the Twisted Edwards curve.

Engineered by Daniel J. Bernstein and his team, Ed25519 delivers a 128-bit security level with performance that outclasses traditional RSA-2048 and ECDSA. It uses 32-byte public keys and 64-byte signatures, making it ideal for bandwidth-constrained environments like IoT and blockchain. The design eliminates common cryptographic pitfalls: it is immune to cache-timing attacks (no secret array indices), branch-prediction leaks (no secret branch conditions), and signature malleability. With verification speeds reaching 71,000 signatures per second on a standard quad-core 2.4GHz processor, it is the standard for modern protocols including OpenSSH, TLS 1.3, and Signal.
