Amazon Athena

Amazon Athena is a serverless, interactive query service: Analyze petabytes of data directly in Amazon S3 using standard SQL (Presto/Trino) without managing any infrastructure.

Athena is your go-to serverless analytics engine for the AWS data lake. It allows you to run ad-hoc, ANSI SQL queries against massive datasets (structured, semi-structured, or unstructured) stored in Amazon S3. Built on open-source Presto and Trino, Athena integrates seamlessly with the AWS Glue Data Catalog for schema discovery and definition. You simply point to your data, define the schema, and execute queries: no clusters to manage, no scaling to worry about. The cost model is efficient: you pay only for the data scanned, typically $5.00 per terabyte, making it ideal for quick, high-concurrency analysis.
