AMD 9800X3D

The AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D is the Zen 5, 8-core desktop processor: it features 2nd Gen 3D V-Cache and is the first fully unlocked X3D chip for extreme gaming performance and overclocking.

This is the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, AMD’s new flagship for gaming on the AM5 platform. It’s built on the Zen 5 architecture, packing 8 cores and 16 threads with a massive 104MB of total cache (96MB L3). Clock speeds hit a 4.7 GHz base and boost up to 5.2 GHz. The key upgrade is the 2nd Gen 3D V-Cache technology, which is now relocated to place the core die closer to the cooler: this allows for a 120W TDP and makes the 9800X3D the first fully unlocked X3D processor for enthusiasts. Launched in November 2024 at an MSRP of $479, it delivers up to an average 20% faster gaming performance compared to the competition (Intel Core Ultra 9 285K).
