Bluetooth
Bluetooth is the global, short-range wireless standard operating in the 2.4 GHz ISM band: it efficiently connects devices like headphones, keyboards, and IoT sensors within a personal area network (PAN).
Bluetooth is a robust, low-power wireless technology designed as a cable replacement: it allows data exchange between fixed and mobile devices over short distances, typically up to 10 meters (33 ft) in its most common modes. The system operates using UHF radio waves in the unlicensed 2.402 GHz to 2.480 GHz Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) band. Managed by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG), the standard facilitates diverse applications, from high-throughput audio streaming (Classic) to energy-efficient connections for wearables and asset tracking (Bluetooth Low Energy or BLE). With over 5 billion enabled products shipping annually, it’s the essential protocol for connecting peripherals to smartphones, PCs, and smart home ecosystems.
