BPMN

BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation) is the ISO-standardized graphical notation for modeling end-to-end business processes (BPDs).

BPMN 2.0, an ISO/IEC 19510 standard, provides a common visual language for all stakeholders: business analysts, technical developers, and managers. This standardized bridge reduces the gap between process design and implementation. The notation utilizes four core element categories—Flow Objects (Activities, Events, Gateways), Connecting Objects (Sequence/Message Flow), Swimlanes (Pools/Lanes), and Artifacts—to precisely map complex workflows. For example, a Gateway element manages decision points, while Pools delineate organizational boundaries, ensuring clear communication across departments or systems.
