Debate prompting
Debate Prompting is a structured technique: It forces the LLM to argue for opposing viewpoints, generating a more balanced, critically reasoned, and less-biased final synthesis.
This advanced prompting method transforms the LLM into a critical sparring partner (not just a data source). The process is explicit: You introduce a polarized proposition, then instruct the AI to construct detailed arguments for two or more conflicting perspectives (e.g., latency minimization vs. clear error communication). This back-and-forth exchange, often over multiple rounds, compels the model to explore nuance and refine its logic. The final step requires the AI to synthesize these competing claims, yielding a comprehensive, high-quality conclusion. This technique demonstrably improves critical thinking and helps align models for more truthful, robust decision-making (achieving up to 88% accuracy in some human-judged tasks).
