GPS Navigation
Global Positioning System (GPS): The U.S. government-owned, space-based utility delivering precise positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) services worldwide.
GPS Navigation is driven by the Global Positioning System (GPS), a U.S.-owned, space-based utility providing Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) services globally. The system relies on a minimum of 24 NAVSTAR satellites orbiting at approximately 11,000 miles: your receiver calculates its precise location by measuring the time delay of signals from at least four satellites (trilateration). Maintained by the U.S. Space Force, this technology delivers a horizontal accuracy of approximately 10 meters for civilian use, powering essential applications like Google Maps, Waze, and emergency 911 services, making real-time location data a dependable global standard.
