Neuralace
Ultra-high channel count (10,000+), flexible electrode array for next-generation brain-computer interfaces (BCI).
Neuralace, developed by Blackrock Neurotech, is a next-generation neural interface designed for ultra-high channel count brain-computer interfaces (BCI). Thinner than an eyelash, this flexible, lace-structured electrode chip is engineered to conform seamlessly to the brain's fissures and sulci, enabling whole-brain data capture with over 10,000 channels: an exponential increase over existing electrodes. This technology is a critical step toward advanced BCI applications, including vision and memory restoration, and is expected to be available for neuroscience research by 2024. The adaptable structure also significantly improves biocompatibility, directly addressing a core challenge in neuro-engineering.
