Pellet
Pellet is an open-source, Java-based OWL 2 reasoner designed for high-performance automated inference in semantic web applications.
Pellet delivers a robust completion of the OWL 2 profile by implementing tableau-based algorithms for description logic. It handles complex entailments, consistency checks, and data classification with precision (supporting SROIQ semantics). Originally developed by Clark & Parsia and now maintained within the Stardog ecosystem, Pellet integrates seamlessly with the Jena and OWL API frameworks. Developers use it to extract implicit knowledge from RDF datasets and manage large-scale ontologies where logical consistency is non-negotiable.
