Solidity

Statically-typed, contract-oriented programming language for writing and deploying smart contracts on the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and compatible blockchains (e.g., Polygon, Avalanche).

Solidity is the high-level, primary language for developing smart contracts on the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). Proposed by Gavin Wood in 2014, it is a statically-typed, curly-braces language, borrowing syntax from C++, Python, and JavaScript to accelerate developer onboarding. The Solidity compiler converts this code into EVM bytecode, enabling the creation of self-executing, decentralized applications (dApps). This language is the industry standard, securing hundreds of billions of dollars in value across systems like ERC-20 tokens, DeFi protocols, and decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs).
