Aurora is a fully managed, cloud-native relational database (DB) built for superior performance and availability. It’s compatible with both MySQL and PostgreSQL, offering up to 5x the throughput of standard MySQL and up to 3x the throughput of standard PostgreSQL. The architecture is distributed, fault-tolerant, and self-healing: it automatically replicates six copies of your data across three Availability Zones (AZs). Storage scales automatically up to 128 TB per instance. Critical features include automatic failover (typically under 30 seconds) and Aurora Serverless v2, which instantly scales compute capacity based on demand.
