Bloomberg API
The Bloomberg Open API (BLPAPI) provides low-latency, programmatic access to real-time market data, historical datasets, and reference data via C++, Java, .NET, and Python.
Engineers use BLPAPI to pipe Bloomberg’s Terminal-grade data directly into proprietary trading models and risk management systems. The SDK supports multiple delivery modes (including Request/Response and Subscription) to handle high-frequency updates or deep historical backtesting. By leveraging the same infrastructure that powers the Terminal, developers gain access to over 35 million instruments and 2,000+ data fields. Setup requires a local Bloomberg Desktop API (DAPI) or a Server API (SAPI) connection, ensuring secure, high-performance integration for institutional-scale financial applications.
