Cognition is an applied AI lab building Devin, the first fully autonomous AI software engineer.

Cognition launched Devin to handle complex engineering tasks end-to-end, from debugging codebases to deploying finished apps. Unlike standard coding assistants, Devin operates with its own shell, browser, and editor to plan and execute thousands of decisions independently. The team, led by CEO Scott Wu and a roster of gold-medal competitive programmers, secured $175 million in funding at a $2 billion valuation (Founders Fund) to push AI beyond simple autocomplete into true reasoning and agency.
