Generative Agents
Autonomous software entities: they leverage Large Language Models (LLMs) to simulate complex, believable human behavior and emergent social dynamics.
Generative Agents are computational entities that model human behavior using a specialized architecture: an LLM extended with a Memory Stream, a Reflections Module, and a Planning/Reacting Module. This three-part system enables agents to store a complete record of experiences, synthesize them into higher-level insights, and dynamically plan future actions based on context and memory. In a key evaluation, 25 agents in a *The Sims*-inspired sandbox autonomously coordinated a Valentine's Day party: they spread invitations, formed new acquaintances, and arranged dates over two simulated days. The technology is a critical advancement for building realistic interactive environments and prototyping complex human-agent interaction models.
