Neural network

A computational system (modeled on the human brain) that uses interconnected layers of artificial neurons to process data, learn patterns, and execute complex tasks without explicit programming.

Neural networks are core to modern Artificial Intelligence, functioning as multi-layered structures of nodes (neurons) that map inputs to outputs by learning optimal weights and biases from massive datasets. Deep learning models, those with multiple hidden layers, drive major breakthroughs: Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) excel at computer vision and image recognition; Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs) handle sequential data like speech; and Transformer models power state-of-the-art Natural Language Processing (NLP) systems, including OpenAI's GPT-3. These architectures enable high-stakes applications: DeepMind's AlphaGo mastered the game of Go, and financial institutions leverage them for real-time fraud detection and risk assessment.
